📢Important Updates Coming to the Temporary Graduate Visa Program – Proposed July 1, 2024!
Attention Temporary Graduate Visa Applicants and Holders,
Mark your calendars for 🎓✈️ significant changes to the Temporary Graduate visa program, expected to take effect on July 1, 2024, pending legislative approval. Here’s a preview of what’s on the horizon:
🔹 Graduate Work stream Rebranded as Post-Vocational Education Work stream: Say goodbye to the Graduate Work stream and hello to the revamped Post-Vocational Education Workstream!The name is changing, and the age limit is reduced to 35 years or under (50 for Hong Kong and British National Overseas passport holders). Qualification requirements are being refined, so be sure to check your eligibility!
🔹 Post-Study Work stream Transformed into Post-Higher Education Work stream: Prepare for the transition from the Post-Study Work stream to the newly named Post-Higher Education Work stream, featuring adjustments to age limits and stay periods. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the updated stay durations based on your degree level!
The ‘select degree’ 2-year extension will cease.
Stay periods will change to the following:
Bachelor's degree (including honors) – up to 2 years
Masters (coursework and extended) – up to 2 years
Masters (research) and doctoral degree (PhD) – up to 3 years.
Hong Kong and British National Overseas passport holders may be able to stay for up to 5 years.
Stay periods for Indian nationals, as agreed in the Australian Indian – Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (AI-ECTA), remain as:
Bachelor degree (including honours) – up to 2 years
Bachelor degree (with first class honours in STEM, including ICT) – up to 3 years
Masters (coursework, extended and research) – up to 3 years
Doctoral degrees (PhD) – up to 4 years.
🔹 Second Post-Study Work stream Now Second Post-Higher Education Work stream: The Second Post-Study Work stream will undergo a name change to Second Post-Higher Education Work stream, with no additional modifications expected.
🔹 Replacement stream Phased Out: Bid farewell to the Replacement stream as it will be discontinued. Explore alternative visa pathways if you were considering this option.
