🚨 Urgent Update for AEWV Holders and Employers! 🚨 (Copy)

🚨 Attention All AEWV Holders and Employers! 🚨

  • An urgent update regarding the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) has just been released, and it's crucial that you're informed. Significant changes are imminent, impacting both your stay in New Zealand and your hiring procedures.

  • For AEWV Holders: If you're currently holding an AEWV, brace yourself for alterations in your visa duration and eligibility for extensions:

    • Those who obtained their first AEWV before June 21, 2023, and are employed in ANZSCO level 4 or 5 roles meeting the stipulated wage rate will now face a maximum stay capped at three years, down from the previous five.

    • However, individuals on a residency pathway or in specified job categories remain unaffected by these amendments.

    • New AEWV applications submitted on or after April 7, 2024, will undergo revised criteria assessments, potentially impacting the duration of stay based on job classification and wage rates.

  • For Employers: Prepare for substantial changes in your hiring process under the AEWV scheme:

    • Increased prerequisites during accreditation and Job Check phases.

    • Employers are now mandated to ensure migrant employees meet minimum skill requirements before offering employment.

    • A new mandate necessitates employing migrants for a minimum of 30 hours per week.

    • Expanded grounds for suspending accreditation in the event of breaches.

    • Introduction of ANZSCO skill levels for AEWV application assessments.

    • Revised rules for job advertising and engagement with Work and Income for certain job categories.

    • Mandatory reporting to Immigration New Zealand upon a migrant employee's departure from employment.

  • Additional Updates:

    • Plans to add 17 new occupations to a Green List have been revised, with only 6 being added, impacting the eligibility of certain occupations for immigration purposes.

    • Work to Residence policy for bus/truck drivers has been revised, potentially altering pathways to residence for individuals in these occupations.

    • Changes to the Construction and Infrastructure Sector Agreement have been implemented, affecting hiring practices and visa requirements within this sector.
